Emil Lindholm heads to WRC ACI Rally Monza in Italy
26 November 2020
The season of the Team GRX’s Emil Lindholm and Mikael Korhonen will continue in the last World Rally Championship event of the season in Monza, Italy. The Finnish duo will compete with the Hungarian Eurosol Racing Team’s Škoda Fabia R5 Evo, with Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen as their teammate.

Christmas came early this week for Team GRX’s Emil Lindholm and Mikael Korhonen when they found out they will get to take part in the last World Rally Championship event of the season in Italy. The Finnish duo will participate in WRC ACI Rally Monza with Hungarian Eurosol Racing Team’s Škoda Fabia R5 Evo. Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen, who is looking for a new rally team from the WRC-series, is driving as Lindholm’s teammate.

- On Monday morning we were already preparing for the upcoming new season thinking this season was over. We are extremely happy we got to agree on one more event with Eurosol Racing Team for this season. Driving especially in a WRC event is a pretty big surprise and a great one, Lindholm rejoices.

The World Rally Championship ACI Rally Monza is a new acquaintance for Lindholm. A few years ago he drove Rally Como that is competed in the same area.

- The rally will be run on Thursday and Friday in the Monza race track, on Saturday on the area's terrain special stages and on Sunday again in the Monza race track. The special stages built on the track are probably going to be very Italian style; quite slow, curvy and complicated. A few years ago I drove my first rally in Italy, the Rally Como, quite close to Monza so I have a little experience with the nature of the roads, Lindholm tells.

- With a background of a track driver I look forward to the future special stages. Monza is already a legendary place because of its environment and atmosphere and the WRC Monza combines the best of both motorsports; track and rally, Lindholm reminds.

The WRC ACI Rally Monza, driven on tarmac platform, will start on Thursday, December 3rd with a 4.33 km super special stage built on the Monza race track. The rally will continue on Friday with five (69.61 km) and on Saturday with seven (126.95 km) special stages. The rally ends on Sunday, when there are three more (40.25 km) special stages in the program. Winners are expected to the finish line at 15:00 (EET).
