Lindholm Delivers a Wild Performance in Ouninpohja: Side Window Detached, Finishes Fourth in WRC2
03 August 2025
Emil Lindholm and Reeta Hämäläinen of Toksport WRT showed excellent pace on the final special stage of Rally Finland in Ouninpohja. The Finnish duo climbed to fourth place in the WRC2 category. In the WRC2 championship standings, they currently sit in 14th place.

The final day of Rally Finland took place in Jämsä’s Ouninpohja. The legendary special stage (23.98 km) was run twice on Sunday. During the first run, Lindholm was on track for the fastest WRC2 time halfway through the stage, but in the second half, the gap to the leader grew to 1.5 seconds.

The second run looked more challenging. After a jump, the left side window of Lindholm’s Škoda detached completely, and the massive air pressure entering the cockpit nearly ruined the entire performance. Despite this, Lindholm managed to clock the second-fastest time in WRC2 on the stage and climbed to fourth place in the category.

“On the first run, the last few kilometers didn’t go perfectly. On the second run, early in the stage after a jump, the driver’s plexiglass window came off completely, which made driving difficult. The airflow into the cockpit at Ouninpohja’s speeds was intense, especially in right-hand corners. It was quite a draft in the cabin, and luckily my mouth wasn’t full of horseflies,” Lindholm laughed at the finish.

“The window flying off certainly didn’t help our speed, but getting the second-fastest time was a big deal and something to be proud of,” Lindholm added.

Lindholm led the WRC2 category in Rally Finland after five special stages, but a puncture on SS6 dropped the Finnish pair to 12th place. For a driver aiming for victory, fourth place in their home rally was a disappointment, but also the best possible result after the time lost on Friday.

“Fourth place was the maximum result for us after Friday. The race and its atmosphere were fantastic. Huge thanks to Toksport WRT, Škoda, Reeta, and all our supporters for making it possible to race here. Also, big thanks to the fans. You created an amazing atmosphere along the route with your Finnish flags,” Lindholm expressed his gratitude.
